The university also graduated about three hundred post graduate students. At the convocation ceremony which was also the university's 40th anniversary ceremony the Vice Chancellor Professor A.A Zuru emphasised the need for the university to maintain its status quo of being the most peaceful university in Nigeria. He also stated that the university would soon open its faculty of engineering.

Akiolu, who was formally inaugurated as the Chancellor of the university, Senator Bola Tinubu, the governor of Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, governor of kebbi state, governor Atiku Bagudu, Former EFCC boss,Nuhu Ribadu, the OONI of ife, the emir of kano, former governor of crossriver state, Donald Duke, among others.

A platform like this is a welcome development, as it makes information sharing within the University faster and easier. Proper editing of what is posted here is however needed so as to avoid feeding people with wrong information. The Oba of Lagos was inaugurated as the new Chancellor and not the new Vice Chancellor of the University, so please note this and effect the correction. Thank you and keep up with the good work!
